The health care reform bill unveiled by Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) would mean public funding of abortion–something that the majority of Americans oppose, according to public opinion polls. Reid’s bill eliminates the Stupak-Pitts Amendment, which barred federal funding of abortion in the House version of health care reform. Please call Senators Casey and Specter and urge them to support the Stupak Amendment. Senator Casey’s number is 202-224-6324. Senator Specter’s number is 202-224-4254. For more information about the Reid bill, go to http://www.nrlc.org/AHC/Release111809.html .
A new CNN poll shows that most Americans do not want federal dollars to be used to pay for abortions. The survey indicated that six in ten Americans support a ban on federal funding of abortion. A majority also believes that women should pay for abortions out of their own pockets, even if they have private health insurance. Therefore, if the Senate is going to carry out the will of the people, it must include a ban on federal funding of abortion in its health care plan. Please call Senators Casey and Specter and urge them to oppose any health care reform bill that does not specifically exclude abortion. Countless preborn babies and their mothers are counting on you!

Congressman Bart Stupak is issuing a warning to the U.S. Senate: Don’t strip the Stupak-Pitts Amendment from health care reform. That amendment would ensure that federal funding of abortion would not occur under health care reform legislation. You’ll find more at http://www.lifenews.com/nat5651.html .
Meanwhile, please call Senators Casey and Specter and urge them to vote against any health care reform bill that does not specifically exclude abortion. Casey’s number is 202-224-6324. Specter’s number is 202-224-4254.

A big thank you to all of you who took the time to call, e-mail, write, or meet your Congressional Representative about abortion funding in health care reform. Thanks to your efforts, the House of Representatives passed the Stupak-Pitts Amendment, barring federal funding of abortion under health care reform. National Right to Life notes that we’ll face battles ahead in the U.S. Senate and in the conference committee to keep abortion funding out of health care reform, but this is an important first critical step. National Right to Life also points out that concerns remain about medical rationing under health care reform which could lead to euthanasia. Please check http://www.nrlactioncenter.com/ regularly for updates. For more on the status of health care legislation, see http://www.lifenews.com/nat5635.html .
Please call your Congressional Representative and urge a “yes” vote on the Stupak Amendment to keep abortion out of health care reform. This is the most important pro-life vote since the Hyde Amendment banning federal funding of abortion was passed in the 1970s. For background information, go to http://www.nrlactioncenter.com/.
Call your U.S. House member again–Urge a NO vote on the pro-abortion “Rule” on HR 3962 before Friday!
Please forward this urgent alert to your pro-life friends and family members!
Pro-abortion Democratic Speaker Nancy Pelosi (CA) is planning to try to ram the massive health care bill, HR 3962, through the U.S. House of Representatives this week. The most critical roll call will occur on a procedural vote–called “The Rule”–that is expected to take place on Friday, Nov. 6, or Saturday, Nov. 7.
The Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation is urging every pro-life Pennsylvanian to immediately call his or her Congressional Representative with this urgent message: “I urge the Representative to vote NO on the Rule on the health bill, HR 3962, because it does not allow the House to vote on the pro-life Stupak Amendment. The so-called pro-life language that Speaker Pelosi has put into the bill is completely phony. A vote for this Rule is a vote to set up a new nationwide federal health insurance program, called the public option, that will be authorized to pay for abortion on demand with federal funds. The only pro-life vote is NO on the Rule on HR 3962.”
Even if you have already called and written your representatives about the health care bills, it is crucial that you call again now. The number to call is 202-224-3121.
After you have placed this critical call, you can then e-mail your Representative through National Right to Life’s Legislative Action Center at http://www.nrlactioncenter.com/ .
Thank you so much for taking the time to send an urgent message to your Representative on health care reform. The lives of untold numbers of preborn children and the health of their mothers depend on it!
Please call your Congressional Representative now and register your opposition to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s pro-abortion health care reform bill. You can reach your Representative through the Congressional switchboard at 202-224-3121. When you call, please offer the following message:
“I am opposed to the health bill backed by the White House, H.R. 3962, because it would create a government health plan that would pay for abortion with federal funds, and because it would provide massive subsidies that could be used to purchase private health insurance plans that cover abortion.”
Thank you for making these critical calls. The lives of many preborn children and their mothers hang in the balance.
